Aroos (عروس) is the word for bride. The name is a promise about what this counter does best: a wedding arrives here months before the day, family by family, and by the morning itself the gold is the finished part.

A wedding announces itself in here long before the invitations do. A family comes in on a Sunday afternoon, names a month, and the counter starts planning backwards from it.
The first visit is the long one. The bride’s gold gets talked through piece by piece: what the family already holds, what will be given on the day, and what has to be made to sit with the rest. The visits after that are shorter and more exact. A pattern is agreed, a weight is quoted, a deposit puts the chosen pieces aside until the wedding. Nothing in the case wears a ticket, because the price follows the day’s rate — ask, and a piece is weighed and quoted while you hold it.
