Bangles are this counter's bread and butter. One for every day, a pair for a gift, a stack for a wedding, slid on over the knuckles and priced by weight at the day's rate.
Stacked the way they’re worn
Nothing in the bangle case wears a ticket. The price is the weight at the day’s rate plus the making, worked out on the scale while you watch.
Nobody stops at one.
Every bangle in this case is 21 or 22 carat, so a stack matches in colour even when no two patterns agree. Most are built one bangle at a time, an Eid here, an anniversary there, and the wrist keeps the record.
One, a pair, orthe whole stack.
- Singles
- The everyday bangle, worn alone and rarely taken off. Most people's first piece of serious gold, and where nearly every stack starts.
- Pairs
- Two to the same pattern and diameter, worn together or one to each wrist. The usual shape of a serious gift.
- Stacked sets
- Four or six worn as one, identical or graded towards a centrepiece. Bought whole before a wedding, or built across years of occasions.
- Plain
- Polished round or half-round with nothing cut into it. The colour is the whole ornament, and there is nothing to catch on a sleeve.
- Patterned
- Cut and engraved work that breaks the light up, so the bangle flickers when the hand moves. A stack of them flickers more.
- Filigree
- Open wirework, generous on the wrist and lighter on the scale than it looks. The most making for the least weight.
Sized over the knuckles
A bangle has no clasp. It goes on over the folded hand, thumb tucked in, so the measurement that matters is not the wrist. It is the hand at its widest, across the knuckles.
That is why we size at the counter rather than from a chart. You try until one slides on with a little persuasion and sits easy once it is past. Bring the wearer if you can, or a bangle that already fits, and we will match its diameter.
