At the benchRepairs

Mended here,not posted away.

A snapped chain, a clasp that will not close, a ring half a size out. The bench that puts them right is inside this shop, and for most small jobs the piece never leaves the building.

A ring held in the bench clamp mid-repair, a fine gold chain waiting beside the tools

Stand-in. The real shot here is a close one: the clamp and the ring in it.

Six jobs, onebench.

Six jobs cover most of what comes over this counter broken. Every one is done inside the building, at the same bench that makes the custom orders.

  • Ring resizing

Whether the ring needs letting out or taking in, it is fitted on the finger before it leaves.

  • Chain & clasp repair

A parted link rejoined, or a clasp that has stopped holding replaced with one that does.

  • Re-stringing

Pearls and beads moved onto fresh knotted thread before the old one gives way.

  • Cleaning

Years of wear lifted out of the pattern. Nothing comes off the weight.

  • Polishing

Fine scratches worked back to a bright surface at the wheel.

  • Rhodium plating

White gold re-plated when the warmer colour underneath begins to show.

Stand-in

The loupe answers most questions before a tool is picked up.

The look, then the quote.

Hand a piece over and it is looked at while you stand there. Under the loupe most repairs explain themselves in a minute: which link opened, whether the clasp is worth keeping, how far a ring can safely move.

Then the quote, before anything is touched. If a mend would cost more than the piece deserves, we say so at the counter. Sometimes the honest answer is a new chain, priced by the gram like everything else in the shop. The chains →

The bench keeps the shop’s hours, and for most jobs the piece stays in the building from hand-over to collection. Small ones come back in [typical turnaround, days not weeks, confirm with the owner].

Once it is mended, keeping it bright is the easy part. Caring for high-carat gold →

Broken?Bring it in.

No repair form, no postage bag, no appointment. Put the piece on the counter and it is looked at while you stand there, with the quote settled before anything starts.
